Did you notice the image that appears behind our club’s name on each page of our web site? It is Barrie’s majestic landmark, the “Spirit Catcher”.

This breathtaking 21 metre high sculpture, located on Barrie’s waterfront, is depicted on our club banner that you see on the Home page.

We are proud to feature this particular landmark. The design of the Spirit Catcher is based on the Thunderbird of First Nations’ mythology: the Thunderbird is a messenger who carries our dreams and desires to the Creator.

Our club is rooted in a community of people who have decided to live here each with their own dreams and desires, not only for their own lives, but also to help improve the lives of others. Our CFUW Barrie and District provides our members with fellowship and pursuit of knowledge, and also promotes education and human rights in our own community and around the world.

More information about the Spirit Catcher is available on this page.
