Interest Groups

Interest Groups provide the most popular benefits for our members! Why? ….because it’s the Interest Groups where we connect and network with other women who share our passions and dreams.

When you join our Club, you are immediately eligible to join any of these smaller groups within the Club, and it’s here where you’ll find fun, satisfaction and a sense of purpose.

CFUW Interest Groups meet periodically and are open to all members. Joan Meyers is the contact for Interest Groups this year. The groups currently in existence are:

DINING DIVAS

If enjoying new food with friends sounds appetizing, then indulge yourself – join the Dining Divas. We love to try out new recipes and our meals are co-operatively planned. Members take their turn hosting the dinner. We meet six times a year to enjoy great conversation as well as good food.

LUNCH BUNCH

Explore interesting restaurants in the Barrie area and enjoy lunch out with a great group of gals. We meet once a month either on the 2nd Friday or the 3rd Tuesday. We currently have 20 members with an average of 12 in attendance every month. We request separate cheques and carpool when necessary.

BOOK EXCHANGE

Only one meeting in late October (October 25th) to chose the books and a year of great reading! Collect reviews to bring to this meeting. Twelve members are maximum to a group to allow each member one month to read a book before it is passed on to the next on the list. No discussion group, no pressure to read the book you have that month, just relax and enjoy! Read twelve books for the price of one!

ADVENTURERS

Definition: A merry band of adventurous spirits who explore the region monthly in search of fun, frolic and stimulation.

BOOK CLUB

We meet on the second Tuesday of each month from September-November and from January-June. Each member takes their turn as hostess and facilitating the discussions. We try to choose books 2 to 3 months in advance of the meetings. The categories of books we read range from Canadian history to fiction to biography and everything in between.

New group this year:

CLASSIC BOOK READING CLUB

Starting in September, this group will meet every second month(at lunch?) to discuss a classic. Convenor to be announced.

WALKING GROUP

Information about the walk will be e-mailed out to participants on the Friday before the walk is scheduled.
